Genoa and Dating from Circa 1800
Voided to reveal the gold silk satin ground
Skillfully Cut in an intricate Garden (Jardiniere) design Featuring the most wonder flowers and foliage
Trimmed with a Late 18th century Crimson Silk
Decorated with 18th Century hand made gold metallic passementerie
This pillow has for many years been part of collection in an English Country House and shows signs of wear commensurate with age and use
The velvet is in very good antique condition Passementerie has some small losses and has taken on a darker antique patina over the centuries Some faint marks to Satin \ Cotton mix backing
Evidence of being re stitched along bottom closing edge. Which is quite usual to enable fresh pads to be insterted
As with all top quality velvets it changes colour when viewed from difference angles as shown in the photographs
an historic, time worn gently faded grandeur that only centuries of age can achieve

FOOTNOTE All my pillows are hand made by myself incorporating wherever possible rare early textiles
I travel extensively throughout Europe to locate beautiful hard to find textiles , some of which can be up to 400 years old and of course will show evidence of this immense age
Rarely totally symmetrical , with perfectly straight lines, without wear ,evenness in colour etc
I work as best I can to retain all of this inherent quirkiness to obtain a gently time worn faded grandeur appeal that only be achieved over centuries of use
