Very rare Italian (Florentine) Renaissance Textile Panel
Dating from late 16th Century
The crimson silk velvet appliqued and embroidered in coloured silks with large flower and foliage and two very lovely Parrots
Would originally been part of a long pilaster hanging
Backed with sturdy antique linen. Raw edges top and bottom
This ancient panel in an antique, time worn condition with general signs of wear commensurate with over Four Hundred years of use The velvet is worn the nap has in places rubbed away over the centuries revealing underlying crimson silk Wear, losses, old restorations .
Fairly delicate however reasonably stabilized with slight padding and the thick linen backing Please study photographs and use the zoom feature as they do form a very important part of the description
A very rare museum worthy textile would make a worthy addition to any advanced collection
Would look truly exquisite framed

Design Note Hang this on your wall as you would a painting Or if you require something a bit larger mount it onto some antique velvet or silk. decorate the edges with antique braid Perhaps make a pocket along the top edge for a pole with decorative finials and then finish of by hanging tassels from the pole finials
