Rare Late 15th early 16th Century Orphrey Panel
Mounted in an antique frame behind a glass panel Collectors reference notes to reverse Italy , Florence Lampas weave in gold on a red satin ground. Depicting the Resurrection with six seraph-heads and two soldiers between patterned borders.
The design has been tentatively attributed to Rafaellino del Garbo on the grounds of a relationship with the painting of the subject in the Uffizi. An example can be found in The Victoria and Albert Museum. An example with the same design, but reversed and with different border is in the Kunstgewerbe Museum, Cologne.
Appropriate signs of wear commensurate with great age.
