An extremely Rare Ecclesiastical Textile
Originally Orphrey panels from a Ceremonial Cope
Depicting five embroidered portraits of Saints worked in coloured silks and metallic threads.
The Orphrey panels date from early 16th century. Re worked to form this runner sometime in the late 17th century
The green silk velvet metallic trims and backing date from this period (17th century)
Of course this magnificent textile shows appropriate signs of wear commensurate with its immense age. Has taken on an enchanting time worn patina which can only be achieved over centuries of age.
A truly exquisite example would make a very worthy addition to a collection of early textiles
Pleas study the many photographs as they do form a very important part of the description
