A rare panel
Hand woven in natural green dyed wools
Depicting urns with shaped flowering stems and curled flower head , flanked on either side by bird like creatures
Most likely Italian Dating from late 16th early 17th century Circa 1600
This very rare fragment is approx four hundred years old and of course shows appropriate wear commensurate with this great age. The original colour way appears to have been a fairly dark olive green (which can be seen on one the edge ) on an un dyed natural linen
The olive green wool has faded with surface rubbing over the centuries , some historic darned restorations.
An extremely rare panel salvaged from a piece of furniture, part of a private collection I have acquired from an English Country Estate
Perfect for reference / archive purposes although is still strong and stable for projects re working Would look superb framed
SIZE 30 inches high x 23 inches wide (76cm x 59cm)
