Rare and exquisite Castelo Branco Embroidered Panel
Most likely originally intended as a Colcha (Marriage Coverlet)
Portuguese and dating from 18th century
Silk embroidery upon a Orche linen ground, loosely backed with hand loomed cotton. This lining could quite easily be detached to give a lighter, gossamer effect to the cover, as its only joined along the top edge and then with a few cotton stitched threads here and there
Antique gently time worn appeal, displays beautifully.
With appropriate signs of wear commensurate with age and use. Small historic darned repairs, surface marks
Please study photographs (zoom in on your touch screen) as they do form a very important part of the description
