Woven in naturally dyed wools and silk.
Depicting head and shoulder portrait of a man in profile dressed in traditional costume within a woodland setting Within a border of wide hand made gold metallic braid
dating from 17th century
Backed with antique homespun linen
The Tapestry panel is in Good antique condition considering it is approx 400 years old With appropriate signs of wear commensurate with great Age and use. If there is restoration /re weaving it is very good as I cannot spot it. The rare wide gold metallic braid is three hundred years old and has taken on a lovely mellow antique patina over the centuries
An impressive fragment salvaged many years ago from what must have been a truly magnificent huge wall hanging.
