The silk velvet is from the last quarter of the 16th century Circa 1580
The Renaissance Ferronnerie gothic design couched metallic embroidery (silver gilt metal thread which are wrapped around silk) was added later sometime in the mid 17th century .
Sections of the narrow scrolling design restored in the 18th century together with the addition of hand spun indigo dyed linen backing
