Finest quality deep red cut and uncut voided velvet panel on an opulent metallic gold ground
Genoa 17th century circa 1650
Finished with early 18th century Florentine metallic gold tasssel trim Backed with oyster colour raw silk
Velvet panel is made up from two sections hand stitched together. Is well preserved with of course appropriate signs of wear commensurate with a textile that is over three hundred and fifty years old

I travel extensively throughout Europe to locate beautiful hard to find textiles , some of which can be up to 400 years old and of course will show evidence of this immense age
Rarely totally symmetrical , with perfectly straight lines, without wear ,evenness in colour etc
I work as best I can to retain all of this inherent quirkiness to obtain a gently time worn faded grandeur appeal that only be achieved over centuries of use
