An exquisite panel of the very finest French Silk
The blue silk beautifully brocaded using opulent Silver and Gold Metal Threads (most likely real Gold and Silver wrapped silk) Which sparkle superbly (hard to capture the sparkle on camera)
Dating from mid 18th Century most likely from Lyon Very rare to find a such of this truly exceptional quality
Would have been extremely expensive in the 18th century I would imagine this was carefully salvaged from an elaborate costume
Full loom width retaining both selvage edges Part lined in blue silk A few faint marks to ground silk otherwise in good antique condition with gentle signs of wear commensurate with immense age and use
