This sculpture is over 200 years old is in hauntingly beautifully distressed antique condition with general wear, and losses to gesso gilding which in my opinion adds to the lovely time worn gently faded grandeur that can only be achieved with centuries of use

PLEASE NOTE The polychrome / gilded gesso finishes on ancient carvings become somewhat dry and brittle over the centuries , this is what gives the beautiful distressed / time worn effect we all love As a result occasionally during shipping and further handling pieces of surface gesso will become detached This is quite normal and if preferred usually just require fixing back into place with adhesive This advice is given should this not be acceptable to you
